KeybWorkerToday started with the last finishing touches on KDE4’s sound theme.

How very Portuguese of me finish this up at 2 days from the absolute deadline.

All the sounds are done and accounted for, even those that will not be enabled of default on the system. The only thing left really is to update the techbase entries regarding name specs and the tech specs to include the brand new UI sounds (hyea, the ones that woun’t be enabled).

One funny aspect of this all is really the model of my master keyboard there. How’s that for a quirky coincidence?

I also spent the day at #oxygen today and I must give Riccardo a heart felt high-five for all the hoops and loops he’s been going through these last few days to make everything sparkling for things to go smoothly. He was juggling a million issues at the same time and still found time to help me with the sounds…

There are more musical projects in the workings, Riccardo will keep the screencasts going and that means I get to make more songs to go with it, which is always nice since doing UI sounds is interesting, but making proper tunes and seeing them applied to some visual work is really what makes my creative side tick. There is also new contacts being made by developers who need sounds and music (especially for games) and of course I’m totally up for that. :)

It’s REALLY good to know that Portuguese people make such an important role in the developing of opensource software :)

    Best regards
    Abraço!

    I prefer my M-Audio Axiom49 :-p

What kind of stuff are you producing? What is your home studio spec?

  3. @tymonn: There’s a another portuguese guy on the Oxygen team, Nuno Pinheiro. And a few other that I know of other projects much more related to software development. Abraço! :)

  4. @Paulo Pires:

I did the login and logout sounds and everything that would be played in between (though I kept clear of apps that had their own sounds, like kreversi for example), at the last minute I also had to do the interface sounds (maximize, minimize, etc), which I belive shouldn’t even exist…but hey…

Axiom series is very very peachy. I like it too, but for that kind of price tag, right now, I’d much rather invest on an 88 key weighted keyboard (also from M-Audio) then on the Axiom. But granted: if my Oxygen49 dies on me I’ll buy an Axiom to take it’s place.

    I really wouldn’t call it a home studio. :)
It’s mostly just the Oxygen49, and virtual synths (namely Native Instrument’s Absynth, and Akustik), Propellerhead’s Reason ver3 Since I can’t seem to find the heart to pay for version 4, but still it’s on my amazon wishlist, and Ardour for multitrack recording if needed.

That’s nice! Well, it’s really “kewl” to know about your contributions to OSS. I also use Reason, now v4, and Cubase SX3. I also use Ardour, Hydrogen and Rosegarden but just for testing purposes.

    Abraço,
    PP

  6. I’ve been using Ardour quite a bit, but there’s something about avoiding anything non-digital about me. I can even have a cool idea for guitars or something or that sort, but the idea of having to deal with cables and mics and all that paraphernalia just makes cringe and go back to one of the synths with a “I bet I can make that with this” attitude.
